Dealing with Loss
The lives of widows and orphans can change drastically after loss. At the Hope Ministry we work to help navigate these challenges. We have volunteers who run different themed workshops and seminars throughout the year. These are places where orphans and widows can meet and connect with each other, building a support network.
These sessions have different practical and emotional themes but are also based on Biblical principles to encourage prayer and focus on God’s provision. We run prayer groups, Bible studies and Bible workshops to help those we serve find strength in their faith. Our volunteers also work closely with local churches whose teams are also passionate about helping those impacted by loss deal with the difficult questions and struggles that often arise during times of loss.
Working with communities
We understand that effective aid goes beyond providing resources; it involves building relationships and empowering people within their communities. We meet with widows and orphans directly and regularly to get an understanding of their needs. We also run monthly support groups for people which has been a helpful way for people to connect with others in their communities who have gone through similar experiences.
Practical and Financial Support
Beyond emotional and spiritual support, we also provide practical and financial help. We understand that the loss of a spouse or parent often means the loss of the breadwinner or main caregiver, often leaving widows and orphans unable to meet their daily needs.
At The Hope Ministry we look to provide essential financial and practical support that can help individuals and families regain stability and build a secure future. We aim to not only support with basic daily needs, but to also prevent further hardship. We want people to continue their work or education or enter new ones. We also provide empowerment courses to help orphans and widows regain their confidence and move forward with hope.
Educational Support
We see education as fundamental. At the Hope Ministry, we support orphans in returning or entering education, anywhere from primary level to university.
We liaise with institutions to make sure individuals are receiving the right support. This can vary for example paying for school terms, providing school equipment, or helping find apprenticeships or vocational training
